On the official DOOM Eternal website, it was announced that the previously announced Invasion Mode is no longer on the way. I really hope that there’s a new Quake game that manages to capture what made Q3A so special while also introducing modern elements. DOOM Eternal will no longer receive an Invasion Mode. I’m very convinced that Doom Eternal is the better game for a number of reasons, but games like Cultic scratch that old-school FPS itch for me in a way that neither of the recent Doom games did.
